OUR MISSION

The Transnational Boxing Rankings Board was formed in October 2012 as a volunteer initiative to provide boxing with authoritative top-ten rankings, identify the singular world champion of every division by strict reasoning and common sense, and to insist on the sport’s reform. Board membership includes fifty respected boxing journalists and record keepers from around the world who are uncompromised by so-called sanctioning bodies and promoters.

LATEST UPDATE

13 May 2024

Jr. Featherweight King “Monster” Naoya Inoue is the Transnational Boxing Rankings Board’s choice for the P4P #1 fighter on the planet. His dramatic defeat of #3 Jr. Featherweight contender Luis Nery gave him the boost in a close contest between him and Terence Crawford for that coveted crown, theoretical though it is. It’s not that hard of a choice when it comes down to it –Crawford is simply not active enough. Over the past 10 months, Inoue has had three wins over contenders, one of which earned him his current divisional crown. Crawford took the welterweight crown in a huge bout against Errol Spence Jr., but he’s been resting since and won’t be fighting until August.

Vasyl Lomachenko, the #2 Lightweight contender under Gervonta Davis (both of whom linger under an open throne), stopped former division boss George Kambosos Jr. with body shots. Kambosos drops from #7 to #10 and was lucky he didn’t drop out of the rankings altogether. What kept him in? His unusually tough (for these days) level of competition.

Bantamweight Yoshiki Takei defeats Jason Moloney to enter at #4. Moloney drops from #4 to #6. Antonio Vargas is bumped out. At Jr. Bantamweight, Pedro Guevara moves up from #7 to #6 after defeating Jason’s brother Andrew via split decision. Andrew Moloney retired after the fight, but we usually give a week or two grace period to make sure it isn’t mere impulsivity. At Flyweight, Vince Paras defeats Hiroto Kyoguchi to take #10 while #10 Taku Kuwahara drops a decision to #2-ranked Seigo Yuri Akui and exits with the loss.

***As for the Ryan Garcia PED situation, we are monitoring developments closely. We have just received word that #4-ranked Soslan Asbarov has also tested positive for PEDs after his bout against Aleksai Papin last October and his record has been adjusted by the Russian Boxing Federation. Stay tuned.
